Last night, Jessica called me, who is one of my friends. Unfortunately, she burnt chicken on her griddle and couldn’t clean it.

Part 1: How To Clean Non-stick Griddle? (After Regular Cooking) 

After cooking, Leave it for 2-3 minutes to cool down. Remove all food debris from it through scraping. Wipe it with a damp cloth and wash it with soapy and clean water.  To get detailed steps, follow the below instructions. 

Step 1: Let it cool down

Never try to clean your hot griddle, as this can burn your fingers. So it’s wise to let it cool down for a few minutes. During that time, you can decorate your food. 

Step 2: Scrape off food debris

Scrape leftover food debris using a spatula or scraper. Otherwise, those may get stuck to the griddle and make cleaning more messy.

Tip: Be careful when scraping the leftover food debris not to scratch the non-stick surface of the griddle. 

Step 3: Wipe with a damp cloth

Rinse a soft cloth and wipe your griddle with it. Because it helps to remove each piece of sticky food, moreover, it’ll prepare the surface for cleaning.

Step 4: Apply dish soap

Pour 3 drops of dish soap onto the griddle surface. Rotate the griddle to spread the soap. Softly scrub the griddle surface with a sponge or soft-bristled brush to remove the stickiness. 

Step 5: Rinse with water

Once you’ve scrubbed the griddle with soap, rinse it with water to remove any remaining residue.

Step 6: Dry thoroughly

Finally, dry the griddle thoroughly with a clean and dry cloth. Make sure there is no moisture left on the surface.

Part 2: How To Clean Teflon Griddle? (If It’s Burnt) 

If your non-stick Teflon griddle is burnt. You must find your eyesoring heavy stains on its surface. And those need special cleaning as they won’t come off with regular cleaning. 

Here’s what you can do:

First, follow steps 1 -3 from part 1 cleaning. Then follow the below steps. 

Step 1: Sprinkle baking soda

Sprinkle a tablespoon of baking soda onto the surface of the griddle. When sprinkling, maintain a thin and even layer of baking soda.

Step 2: Spray with vinegar

Spray a teaspoon of vinegar over the baking soda. The acids of both ingredients will create a chemical reaction. So, the stains of the griddle will lose its strength. Leave the griddle for 5 minutes to properly loosen the burning stains. 

Step 3: Scrub with a brush

Now, for a minute, scrub the griddle with a soft bristle brush in a circular or back-and-forth motion. Must cover all the surfaces of the griddle.  

Step 4: Rinse with water

Once you’ve scrubbed the griddle, rinse it with water to remove any remaining residue.

Step 5: Dry thoroughly

Finally, dry the griddle thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth.

  • Never use metal utensils on your non-stick griddle. As it can scratch the surface and cause it to lose its non-stick properties.
  • Use a soft-bristled brush or sponge when cleaning the griddle. Avoid using abrasive brush materials that can scratch the surface.
  • Don’t use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on a non-stick griddle. Stick to mild dish soap and water.
